WCS FILM COLLECTION
The Wildlife Conservation Society Film Collection is currently composed of 1,607 film reels created or collected by WCS between approximately 1900 and 1996. The bulk of the films were created by WCS between the 1940s and 1970s—during which it was called the New York Zoological Society—and reflect its wide range of mid-twentieth-century activities. With the support of the Leon Levy Foundation, the WCS Archives launched its Shelby White and Leon Levy Film Archives Initiative in 2022 to inventory and assess the collection and digitize a portion of it. Use the links below to see a selection of digitized films, view the full collection inventory, and learn more about the collection.
